Mary was one of Greater El Monte Community Hospital’s first COVID-19
patients. She spent 33 days at Greater El Monte. The day of her discharge,
she commented that as she was being wheeled out of her room she began
to notice all the health care providers standing on the hallway and realized
this was all for her. She said it was a beautiful gesture and her heart
was full and so grateful. She considers herself very lucky to have survived
this illness and believes God gave her a second chance. She asked everyone
to take this virus very seriously because she was so careful at all times
and she still got infected. She was able to celebrate Mother’s Day
with her two children and husband. She attributes her health and life
to all the nurses and physicians of Greater El Monte Community Hospital.
She was featured on Univision to share her story.
