Your Comfort Is Our Priority

At Greater El Monte Community Hospital, it's important that you are as comfortable as possible throughout the entire process from pre-admitting to surgery to recovery. We know that when patients are facing surgery, some of the details important before and after the procedure are not foremost on their minds. That's why we're here to help you through the particulars.

Please Bring The Following Items With You To Your Appointment:
  • Preoperative order from your Doctor
  • List of current medications you are taking
  • Allergies
  • Insurance card and any authorization from your insurance company

Day of Surgery

Please go directly to the Admitting Department to check in. Please make sure to leave all jewelry, other valuables and money at home. Do not wear any make-up or hair clips and be sure to wear comfortable clothing. Don't forget to bring a case for your eyeglasses if needed. Remind your family and/or friends that visitors are not allowed in the recovery room. We ask that they stay in the waiting area while you are in surgery. Your doctor will discuss the results of the surgery with them afterward in the waiting area.

After Surgery

Your hospital stay will depend on the type of procedure you have had. Outpatient procedures allow the patient to go home within 24 hours. Inpatient surgery recovery times will vary. Be sure to arrange for transportation home since you will not be allowed to drive yourself following surgery. This is for your own safety. You will receive postoperative instructions from your doctor or nurse before leaving the hospital. Once you are home, if you have any questions regarding these instructions, please call your doctor for clarification.
